El extreno de la película EL GRAN GATSBY, ha despertado nuevamente el interés por la época de los años 20 y su estilo decorativo ART DECÓ. Este estilo inspiró los campos de la arquitectura, el arte, el diseño gráfico, el interiorismo, la moda y el cine en la década de los '20. El Art Decó (estilo que personalmente adoro e inspiró también el nombre de mi blog ChicDecó) tiene su origen en Francia y su nombre fue dado por el arquitecto francés LE CORBUSIER tras la EXPOSICIÓN INTERNACIONAL DE ARTES DECORATIVAS E INDUSTRIALES MODERNAS en Paris, 1925. Desde Francia se extendió rápidamente por Europa y América y por muchos otros paises del mundo.
Este estilo decorativo se caracteriza fundamentalmente por la utilización de la geometría y materiales modernos metálicos.
Sin embargo, el estilo de vida de la década de los '20 no sólo estuvo influido por su estilo artístico Art Decó. A la Primera Guerra Mundial le sucedió en algunos paises una época de prosperidad donde el lujo, la euforia y las noches de excesos entre charlestón, borracheras y música jazz hacían olvidar los horrores de la guerra. Los interiores llenos de lujo y sofisticación son característicos de esta época.

The arrival of THE GREAT GATSBY premiere has waken up an interest by the 1920 decade and its artistic style ART DECO. This style inspired many artistic fields in the 20s, like architecture, art, graphic design, interior design, fashion and cinema. The Art Decó (an artistic style that I personally adore and also inspired the name of my own blog ChicDecó) has is origins in France and the first use of the term 'Art Deco' has been attributed to architect LE CORBUSIER, after the INTERNATIONAL EXPOSITION OF MODERN DECORATIVE AND INDUSTRIAL ARTS in Paris, 1925.
This artistic style uses geometrical patterns and modern metal materials.
However, the 20s lifestyle was not only influenced by its artistic style Art Deco. After the World War I some countries found prosperity and luxury, exuberance and party excesses, among charleston, jazz and hangovers, helped to forget the horrors of the war. Luxurious interiors, full of glamour, are also typical of this age.
Today I'm adding to my WISHLIST section 10 great pieces to create a Art Deco inspired atmosphere at home. Some of them are contemporary items inspired by the 1920s design. All of them will create a beautiful sophisticated interior, with a nostalgic vibe to remember a wonderful age left behind almost a century ago now.
